Yin Yoga & Meditation
Yoga Medicine, Napa, CA, August 2017
Yoga Medicine is a community of teachers who are trained (in eastern & western modalities) to understand the function & dysfunction of the human body in order to work more effectively with healthcare practitioners. It was founded and is taught by Tiffany Cruikshank, who was previously the Acupuncturist & Yoga Teacher at the Nike World Headquarters in Portland, Oregon and has worked with over 25,000 patients. This specific training looked at these two more contemplative practices and the science behind how they can be used more therapeutically. It examined yin yoga in a therapeutic format including a breakdown the Chinese Medicine meridians and how different yoga poses affect the energetic body. Dr. Rashmi Bismark, MD, MPH presented the science behind the physiological and psychological benefits of meditation along with the concept of neuroplasticity and how it relates to a yoga and meditation practice.
Strala NYC, New York, NY, May 2016
Strala Yoga is a revolutionary approach to guiding feeling and movement, which gets people radiantly healthy, free, creative, and happy. Strala is known for its laid-back, energetic and open vibe. Class types include Strala STRONG, Strala RELAX, Strala ENERGIZE, Strala BASICS, Strala GENTLE, and Strala CORE. All Strala classes move slowly and continuously, guided with deep breath and easygoing movement from your middle. Movement begins with your breath. Every inhale opens and creates space, every exhale relaxes and lets you move easily into the space you create. You’ll get strong, let stress go, and accomplish tremendous challenges with ease. You’ll also feel free, creative and intuitive, and get healthy and happy from the inside out! Strala was created by Tara Stiles (drawing on her background in classical ballet and choreography, as well as her long-time personal practice in yoga) with Mike Taylor (who studied mind-body medicine at Harvard, complementary medicine at Oxford, and has practiced Eastern movement and healing, including tai chi and qi gong, for 30 years).
Yoga Hawaii, Honolulu, HI, April 2016
Shakti Flow is a movement, a practice, a way of life, inspired by movement. Yoga, dance and functional fitness, Shakti Flow is an invigorating practice that blends these elements. On the surface, a Shakti Flow class is full of high intensity cardio bouts, fun improv dance sets mixed with creative vinyasa flow, body weight strength training and breath work while loud motivating music infiltrates the room. Below what we can physically see, these movements are cleansing and opening our chakras, building solid foundations while nudging us to step out of our comfort zones. In turn we re-emerge more confident, vibrant and more aligned with our divine feminine energy. Shakti means power or empowerment, which is what our practice inspires within us. This practice will challenge you no matter what your experience in yoga or fitness, guaranteed to shake up and Awaken the inner Goddess that resides within us all. Shakti Flow sets you Free, Free to be you. Moderate to high intensity.
